hey girls! weirdz was planning an outing on e 2nd of nov, but i was on e bus today n i had a brilliant idea. how about lets give shaz a bday surprise. we'll plan 4 e outing on 2nd, then suddenly everyone will last min pang seh shaz. then on her bday or on a day nearer her bday we all surprise her at NTU? when she sees wei2. sz, aifung and gill i'm sure she'll be surprised too!!!! her actual bday is on e 7th of nov btw.(a thurs)

wat do u guys think? pls reply me. any ideas or u dun like this idea? then i can plan if we all(or majority of us) agree to this. thanks!!!!

7th Nov is a Wed, not Thurs right? I'm fine with it but I'm scared it'll backfire becos you guys need to check what plan she has on her birthday first. If there's no halls activities and she didn't arrange any meeting with her friends then it's ok. Otherwise I'm sure if we go down she won't be available.

Since some of you are in NTU I supposed it'll be easier for you to check it subtly?Thanks

from what i know...shaz lesson finish at 230 every wed(same lesson)...then she always tell me she go back hall to sleep...while i continue wif my next lesson...as for hall...she super busy...but i can ask my tutorial mate...he's in e same blk as her...(though he's not in the exco)...

but if i not wrong, it's on e eve of deepavali...wld there be hall act on the eve of public hols...?
is it confirm on 7 nov....?

I think its quite a good idea to pop down NTU! Butthen...my schedule forbids me to leave campus...As you know, I only take public transport like sat and sun...

As of now...I have 2 projects due that 2 weeks...Kindabusy busy..But i would try to be available on 2 and 7at least. Hopefully i don't have anything on!!

HEY GIRLS!!! i have great news. just found out that for the whole week of 7th nov SHAZ IS FREE. no tuition coz exams over n no hall stuff coz that's the studying week before exams start the following week. whee!!

is everyone free for dinner on e 7th? please reply me. (wednesday) we'll most prob be going to eat at the halal korean restaurant shaz mentioned she wanted to eat at before, which is at jurong east. i'll go find out wat shaz is up to on the 7th then we settle wat time and where to meet.

wif regards to her present, how abt we all chip in cash n get her one of those gift card thingys from billabong or OP or smth like that. a topshop gift card would be so cool but of course, topshop is not shaz's style. i seriously think she needs to stop dressing like an engineering student(oops sorry biased). i'll go look ard this weekend for shops that have nice clothes shaz can pick from, u guys noe of any shops or have any suggestions? please let me noe. u guys also help look k. then i can go get the gift card then u guys can pay me back afterwards. is it ok if each of us contributes $10-$15? or if u wanna contribute more or less also can. let me noe if u want to contribute, and if u are, how much you're contributing so i noe the price of the gift card to buy. please reply soon!

those going for shaz's surprise party, here's the FINAL plan again. (you noe, must summarise to ensure that it is correct)I've made some changes though and see if you girls are fine with tt.

• azz, rach and myself will meet 4pm at Boon Lay MRT station on Wednesday to buy the chocolate cake from Prima Deli
• those who's going will meet 5pm at Boon Lay Mrt station, thereafter we'll head to NTU TOGETHER (pls be more organised. we dun want to arrive one after another)
• Dianne is pretending to study with Shaz in school

Ok the plan I have here is, I'll get wileen (shaz room-mate) to open the room for us. We'll stay inside to possibly fill up with balloons and to light up the cakedianne will ask shaz to come back to the room, saying you want to borrow some notes (which she didnt bring along)so dianne will go back with shaz to the room and give us a miss call along the way to indicate that they're reaching. then we'll surprise her

Yeah! This sounds so cool!!

OK! Now that we have gotten the birthday plan, how canwe forget the birthday present?

It's nothing big nor exciting...But I thought weshouldn't just give her a giftcard. Thus, I went tothe Science Bazaar yesterday and got a small box($2.50) that comes with a small paper bag. And I wasthinking that we might have lots to write to her. Anormal card wouldn't be enough. So, I got many smallcards that cost $0.70 each to write all that you wantto Shaz! I am thinking of developing Taufik's pic andsaying that he wrote to her (any suggestions?)

I also got her name stickers that were printed withdalmatians. As in her name on the sticker. It's $- for120 stickers!

And Di is getting the gift card which I don't know howmuch. Maybe Di, you want to update us about it?

Any other ideas are welcome :)

Yes. I agree with Sarah also. We shouldn't get her things on Taufik again. However, I do support Dianne in that we can get her something on clothing. I've voiced out the concern to Dianne that it's weird getting a giftcard and that she hardly shops. But then again, if we go shopping for clothes, we'll end up buying sports outfit again. If we want to change her dressing, it's not very good for us to pick for her because she may not feel comfortable in it, so just let her buy her own la.

Alternatively, we can buy things for her room. since she doesn't have much. For example, MINI fridge. Or. Mini kettle. Or those very very nice bedsheet that I saw. Or decorations. Or those beanbag sofa(see http://www.inventiveparent.com/LuconGiant_Plush_Bean_Bags_duck.jpg, mini toons and ig's heaven and beary hip have it). Or mirrors (see http://www.ikea.com.sg/products/product_display.asp?id=592 ) PRACTICAL AND USEFUL AND SHE'LL DEFINITELY USE IT.hahhaahaha.

I like the idea of beanbag sofa though. hahahahhaa. and that will still leave us some money for the cake. Don't forget, our budget is only $*beep beep* INCLUSIVE of buying cakes and rach's cake. yup

I think mini fridge may not be a good idea. Coz in myhall, we are suppose to declare and pay a sum. If shewants to do that, then we probably can. If not, justhaving a fridge in hall would be "against the rules"even though so many people don't declare.

And she may not need the kettle if she doesn't stay inhall that often. And the kitchen may have hot waterdispenser which eliminates the need of a kettle.

Not sure what NTU hostel is like though.

Beanbag, bedsheets sound great! :)

Btw, what's "rach's cake"? Aren't we all sharing a cake for her?

mini TV is not so problematic but the reception in NTU sucks so badly that an anthena is a must have. (antenna as in the kind which you can tweak as seen in ancient movies...lol)

with regards to the gift card/voucher right, i'm planning to get it this weekend. getting either a taka or wisma gift card/voucher so she can go buy watever she wants wif this card. for example a beanbag sofa, clothes or whatnot. sounds good? please VOTE AS WELL!

btw i just checked wif my friend in hall, n need to pay like $60 every 6 months if u wanna have an electrical appliance in hall. coz need to pay electricity bill.

for e beanbag...i dunno if she'll use it in her hall...cos she has NEVER swept her room since she first steped into her hall...she doesn't even put her praying mat on the floor cos she doesn't want it to be dirty..she rather stand and pray on her bed...that was e first time i ever prayed on a bed and trying to balance myself in between movements...but she may use it...there is a possibility...esp after her meetings which ends in e night..and when she got readings to do...(though i think she'll juz fall asleep there...nothing new cos she sleep eveytime she study...)

ah...izyan pointed out the cake that shaz wanted already...shaz pointed 2 cakes but we cld only identify one....it's some tiramisu thing...it cost 25 bucks and quite small...it wrote 'standard' size...e other one is a choc cake...but we dunno which one..haha...

Ok...I have read so many emails that I forgot whowrote what already. Anyway, the beanbag idea is good.But just as Az said, Shaz doesn't clean her room. And I don't think the bean bag should go onto a dirtyfloor coz it will accumulate and it will be bad forshaz's (and wileen's) health down the road. And shazheading for the beanbag after her training sounds abit unhygienic! (Do you know the amount of bacteriathat just stays and grow in that beanbag!!)

I was much for it but after thinking about thecleaniness and health issues...the beanbag doesn'tseem hygienic. Unless, shaz can promise not to sit onit after traning and CLEAN HER ROOM!

what's the other idea?

she usu got meetings or either running...(she got no life)...but e cutlery may come in useful even wif delivery...esp if she buy chicken or pizza...

Hey! ok for the worried ones, i am plannin to buy the giftcard for shaz THIS WEEKEND. ok i shall be more specific, i'm buying it TONIGHT. (saturday 3rd nov.) there were some concerns, so we shall not be spending too much on the gift card. instead of getting an $90 gift card ($10 from each person), i'll get a $45 gift card/voucher($5 from each person.If there's no such thing then i'll get a $50 one), as well as:

1. a bedsheet
2. some cutlery for her to eat her maggie mee from
3. other useful practical items for her to use in hall

all agreed? i'm gonna be at orchard tonight.

wif regards to shaz... i've just checked, she's still meeting to study wif me on wed AND she's still having dinner wif me, so its all ok. :-D

I am so sorry! Been really tied down with loads ofwork that each time I want to reply this email, Ialways ge interrupted.

Anyway, yup! I would meet Az and LC (who else?) atBoon Lay MRT (jurong point right?) (btw, I almosttyped BUGIS! Coz of sj...). 4pm. I have a meeting witha sponsor at 12pm! My first formal meeting withSPONSOR!!! SO EXCITING!

And things to buy - Bedsheet and cutlery. Think thecutlery no need to be too exp. Hall people usuallylose stuff very fast coz people just borrow and don'tremember to return. Was thinking of CUTE cutlery!haha! my hall mates got dog bowls as their bowls! butthat was for an orientation gift.

I have the small cards with me. Which I just realise Aifung and Shuzzie haven't written! (who else notgoing?)

I have 9 cards. Do we have 9people? Or am i short ofcards?

i hope I remember to bring the box! haha!

Hi all!! ok dun worry abt shaz.. i'm meeting her after i finish my lect at 1130 am.. n we'll be studying tgt all the way till surprise time. izyan has class till 1 so she'll be joining azz and i when she finishes.

there are 9 ppl sharing this present and out of the 9, shu zhen and ai fung won't be coming on that day. so rachel could u contact them and ask them wat they wanna say to shaz then u help them write? thanks girl. :)

Some of the problematic shaz has brought us were described in some of these sms-es that Dianne sent to me:

1. Shaz is actually already planning to go back to hall coz she needs to pass someone her proposal 4 smth. Then she said both of us da bao dinner back 2 her hall. How do i tell her not 2 da bao? I was planning 2 fake a headache.
2. She just told me she wants to go at 3pm to e student recre centre which is near her hall. Dun worry she's technically not going 2 her hall. Just near it. Be careful thou.
3. We're studying at shaz's hall study room. Which u will pass on e way to her block. But each study table has a cubicle so she won't be able to see. Msg when you guys reaching
