anyhow...I got all my exams results back already.

FCOM (Introduction to the New Zealand Commercial Environment) -> A- (7 points)
MARK 101 (Principles of Marketing) -> A- (7 points)
QUAN 103 (aka O'level A math standard) ->A+ (9 points)
LAWS 121 (Introduction to the New Zealand Legal System) -> B- (4 points)

*bangs head on wall*
why the hell is my law paper the lowest...urgh....but it is a pretty good exam results. Not sure what is the grade point average though. But at my Uni, As are consider excellent grades and Bs are considered good grades. Cs are satisfactory.

so I should be happy, no? =)

oh well....being a PAID OGL is really great!

I meant tonnes of people and my friends there insist that I attend some event next friday night...I might go depending on the workload as I have 2 law papers this trimester! (which starts next week >.<)

wad you guys c in the movies such as Legally Blonde is case law i.e. discussing cases, finding the material fact, determining the ratio decidendi (latin for reason for deciding) and obiter dictum (statement made by the way or in passing). If it is not challenging enough deicphering the latin (which law students become proficient in for sheer neccessity) and the reasons why a judgment is so and applying that rule of law to a hypotectical situation, try doing it on the spot (thanks to the socratic method of teaching) to a situation the lecturer just made up 5 mins ago.

n that is just case law...statute law (i.e. law made by parliament and its application to cases) is another issue. Sounds familiar? =P Well, case law is essentially proving based on previous cases, why the plaintiff or defendant should be trialed in a certain manner. The logic goes that, like cases should be treated alike for fairness. Statue law, is taking wad parliament says and applying it to situations. This acts as precedents as to how the law should be interpreted and hence implemented.

The main theme of case law and statute law: precedents. Though judges can depart from them under very special circumstances.
