well my final exams are in mid october n i realised quite painfully that my notes are in disarray. By chance i found this really INTERESTING abstract. Ladies, feast your eyes upon this!

"1. Whereas it is necessary to make more effectual provision for regulating the assize and fixing the price of bread in the several towns throughout this Province, and more particularly to define the same; Be it therefore enacted by the King's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Assembly of the Province of Upper Canada, constituted and assembled by virtue and under the authority of an Act passed in the Parilament of Great Britain, intituled, "An Act to repeal certain parts of an Act passed in the fourteenth year of His Majesty's reign, intituled, "An Act making more effectual the provision for the Government of the Province of Quebec, in North America" and to make further provision for the Government of the said Province", and by the authority of the same. That form and after the passing of this Act, it shall and may be lawful for such of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace residing within the limits of any town in this Province, where a Police is now or hereafter may be established, or residing within the limits of any town or towns, to assemble on the first and third Saturday in each month, at the Court House, in each and every of the said towns, respectively; and two of the said Justices being then and their present, are hereby authorised and required to assize and fix the price of bread; and if more than two of the said Justices being then and there present, the majority shall fix and determine the same for each ensuing intermediate period; or if any default shall be made by reason of the non-attendance of the said Justices, or in case no change, alteration or modification, be found neccessary, then the last assize made shall continue to be in full force and effect, until the same shall be varied and changed by a new assize, in a manner above mentioned. "

lol....notice the entire thing is essentially 2 SENTENCES!!

oh, this was the normal form legislation took till the early 1960s when legislators finally got it into their heads that people don't understand what the heck they were writing. The above is regulating the price of bread, by the way.

Imagine writing like that for GP exam, I think Mrs Seng would just toss our scripts out of the window, allowing it to return to Mother Nature, from where it came. ^^ Our defence would probably be: IT IS LEGAL! lol. Somehow I don't think she would take kindly to it. hehe
