hello dear folks! And for dear Azzi, HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!!

Well, I am NOT watching the national day broadcast thing coz I have tonnes of work to catch up with and well coz I have been pubbing this week. yikes.

Anyhow this major charity event in NZ just ended. It is called the "Big Night In" Teleathon where they have pretty much live performances for 23 hours straight. Beginning yesterday at 7pm and ending today at 6pm.

I went down for the "live" filming thing with my flatmate at ard 9 last night n did not get back till ard midnight. Hehe.

anyhow here is a couple of cheap shots!

venue: St James Theatre, Wellly.

the have broadcasts in Auckland and Christchurch too...so it was a pretty massive event.

MOST INTERESTING

(a) the govt donated NZ$320,000. John Key (the PM) actually went on TV to help announce it personally and did a couple of stuff like awkward interviews and it was his birthday!
(b) there were no prizes for donation...people just got off their arse and did work. Instead of being paid for it, it went to charity. Children (coz it is for a kids charity) actually saved up their pocket money to donate and did chores to contribute.
(c) ANY amount was accepted. 40 cents, $100 anything. I gave $3 (coz that was all I had at that time!) and they took it with such sincerity that I felt a bit bad (which is a rare feat! lol).

oh well, cultural differences eh?

still it was interesting to see how these people, in all their COMMUNAL hardwork (including building a beach side house from scratch which was auctioned for about NZ$165,000 - significant undervalue ) were so glad to raise $2M for that charity, whilst in S'pore under the NKF regime, we weren't please till we got at least $3M.

but we are a new generation eh? Next time, our charity events shall involve the community! ^^

♥Bid Farewell
